February 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

NC Campus Compact will facilitate a virtual discussion about The Reunited States of America with filmmaker Ben Rekhi and featured film subject Steven Olikara.

The Reunited States is a feature documentary that profiles people who have dedicated their lives to promoting depolarization and de-escalation of our tensions across the political divide.

Ben Rekhi is an award-winning filmmaker who’s first feature was the SXSW Audience Award winner Waterborne. Rekhi’s second feature The Ashram was released by The Orchard in 2018. Rekhi then directed a documentary series for PBS called The Hidden Vote. His third feature Watch List was co-financed by Bron Studios and executive produced by XYZ Films.

Steven Olikara (@StevenOlikara) is a political entrepreneur and Founder & CEO of Millennial Action Project (MAP), the largest nonpartisan organization of young lawmakers in the U.S. MAP works with over 1,500 elected leaders in Congress and state legislatures to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democracy. An avid musician, he is also co-author of the book, JFK: THE LAST SPEECH, on the role of artists in democracy.  Previously, Steven advised two multi-platinum recording artists on youth empowerment and sustainable energy initiatives.

Steven has been named a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum and a Forbes 30 Under 30 in Law & Policy in 2017. A proud Wisconsinite, Steven graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Udall and Truman Scholar. Steven is based in Milwaukee, WI, where he hosts the Meeting in Middle America podcast.
