Community Partner Award – Call for Nominations

Deadline: December 16, 2019

The NC Campus Compact Engaged Community Partner Award recognizes a community partner engaged in the development of a sustained, reciprocal partnership with an NC Campus Compact member institution.

Nominations are now open for the 2020 Award which will be presented during the combined Opening Session of the Presidents Forum and PACE conference on February 12, 2020.

Selection Criteria

Sustained relationships with higher education institution

  • The partnership has existed for more than two years.
  • There is evidence that the partnership has factors in place to ensure sustainability. Such factors could include, but are not limited to: memorandums of agreement, strategies for regular communication and feedback, plans for ongoing financial support, ongoing evaluation/assessment processes, etc.


  • Assets/strengths mutually recognized and valued by the partners.
  • Partnership is based on mutually beneficial interactions.
  • The community partner serves as a co-educator
  • The community partner collaborates with campus constituents in the partnership.
  • All stakeholders experience growth and benefits

Measurable impact has resulted from the partnership

There is evidence of impact on any of the stakeholders involved: the campus, the partner site, and/or the broader community.


For the purposes of this award, a community partner is defined as a nonprofit agency, school, government organization, or other community based organization serving the broader community.

Nomination Submission Requirements

Please note that the form requires the following:

  • Abstract – in the form of a short, powerful statement about why you are nominating the community partner. (1000 characters max)
  • Essay (500-800 words) that tells the story of the partnership. The essay must address each of the three criterion listed above.

Required documents:

  • One letter of support from an administrator, faculty member, student, or staff member from your institution.
  • One letter from a representative of the community partner (staff, Board member, or client)

Nominations must be received no later than December 16, 2019.

Please note that the winning partnership will be required to submit a 3 minute video highlighting the partnership to be shown during the awards ceremony. Additionally, a representative from the winning partner agency and the partner campus must attend the awards ceremony on February 12.
